Lanka Hospitals Corporation PLC has announced the appointment of Chaaminda Kumarasiri as its Group Managing Director, effective from 5 June 2025.

His appointment signals a strategic move towards further strengthening the institution’s leadership and operational excellence.

Kumarasiri is a widely respected figure in the fields of finance, management consulting, and corporate governance. Recognised as an award-winning professional and senior Chartered Accountant, he has earned a reputation as a leading business adviser and transformation specialist, with a career spanning senior leadership roles in both local blue-chips and multinational organisations.

Combining boardroom acumen with strategic foresight, Kumarasiri currently serves as an Independent Non-Executive Director on the boards of several publicly listed companies across diverse sectors. He also chairs several key Board Sub-Committees, including Audit, Risk Management, Nominations and Governance, Human Resources, and Related Party Transactions.

His influence extends beyond the corporate world. Kumarasiri served on the International Panel on Accounting Education (IPAE) of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) for five years, while also serving two terms on the Governing Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka). At present, he chairs the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants Sri Lanka (ACCA Sri Lanka) Member Network Panel, further cementing his role as a key advocate for the accounting profession.

Kumarasiri is no newcomer to Lanka Hospitals. He previously served as Group Chief Financial Officer during a pivotal period in the organisation’s history, where he played an instrumental role in achieving Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation and launching the country’s first medical reference laboratory, Lanka Hospitals Diagnostics Ltd.

His academic and professional credentials are equally distinguished. A First-Class Honours graduate in Accountancy from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and an MBA holder from the University of Colombo, Kumarasiri is a Fellow Member of CA Sri Lanka, ACCA (UK), Association of Accounting Technicians of Sri Lanka (AAT Sri Lanka), and Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA Sri Lanka). In 2022, he was recognised with the ACCA National Advocate of the Year award for his outstanding contributions to the profession.

Beyond boardrooms and balance sheets, Kumarasiri remains deeply committed to national development. He actively champions entrepreneurship and small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) empowerment, playing a leading role in shaping Sri Lanka’s entrepreneurial landscape.

His return to Lanka Hospitals is seen as a timely and progressive step, aligning leadership experience with sectoral insight to propel the institution towards its next phase of growth.
