The Cabinet of Ministers at their meeting on Monday approved the continuation of the Sri Lanka Tea Board’s 50% trade exhibition subsidy scheme, aimed at helping exporters promote the “Ceylon Tea” brand and secure new international buyers.

“The scheme, in operation since 2015, provides exporters with a subsidy covering half of their costs for participating in trade exhibitions, enabling greater global exposure under the ‘Ceylon Tea’ trademark,” Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said at weekly post-Cabinet meeting media briefing yesterday.

The move seeks to ensure the long-term promotion of the “Ceylon Tea” brand in international markets and support exporters in expanding their reach in an increasingly competitive global tea trade.

The proposal to this effect presented by Plantation and Infrastructure Facilities Minister K.V. Samantha Viddyarathna was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.
