The Cabinet of Ministers has approved awarding of contracts for five road infrastructure improvement projects worth over Rs. 4.06 billion.
The Road Development Authority (RDA) invited bids under the National Competitive Bidding Procurement Procedure to select the contractors. After the bids were evaluated, the High Level Procurement Committees made their recommendations, and the Cabinet approved the awards on that basis.
The largest contract, for the Palapatwela – Galewela Road (19+000 km to 27+000 km) (B346), went to M/s Senerath Engineering Ltd., at Rs. 1,291.80 million, excluding VAT. Five bids were received for the project.

“Together, the five contracts total Rs. 4,060.72 million, excluding VAT,” Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said at the weekly post-Cabinet meeting media briefing yesterday.
The proposal to this effect was submitted by Transport, Highways and Urban Development Minister Bimal Rathnayake.
