• Cabinet gives approval to present Vote on Account to Parliament

Cabinet yesterday approved the Vote on Account, prepared by the Ministry of Finance incorporating the expenditure of the Government for the first four months of 2020.

The Vote of Account was presented by Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera, and is being brought instead of the Budget in view of the Presidential Elections, which will be held on 16 November.

Cabinet agreed to postpone the commencement of the preparation of the annual Budget for the year 2020, to enable it to be based on the new policies of the Government, and after the composition of the new Cabinet of Ministers after the elections.
