CSE down for second consecutive month

The Colombo stock market, which has been on the up since May 2025, has declined for two consecutive months in February and March 2026.

During the month of March, the ASPI declined 11.24% (compared to a 0.3% decline in February), while the S&P SL20 was down 11.03% (up from the 0.1% decline in February). The market has lost Rs. 903 billion in value since the Middle East war began on 28 February.

Year-to-date, the ASPI has fallen 6.89%, while the S&P SL20 is down 4%. The ASPI gained 41.89% in 2025, the second highest since 2022, while the S&P SL20 gained 26.64%.
