An investor forum organised by the Colombo Stock Exchange and the Securities and Exchange Commission was held in Dubai on Thursday at the Sheraton Grand Hotel.
It was in association with the Embassy of Sri Lanka in the UAE and the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Dubai and Northern Emirates. The forum was addressed by Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Deputy Minister Chathuranga Abeysinghe, Central Bank Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to the UAE Prof. Arusha Cooray, SEC Chairman Senior Prof. Hareendra Dissabandara, CSE Director Ray Abeywardena, and Lynear Wealth Management Co-Founder Dr. Naveen Gunawardane. It was moderated by CSE CEO Rajeeva Bandaranaike.
In 2025, the benchmark index, ASPI, rose 42% year-on-year (YoY) to 22,624 points, while the more liquid S&P SL20 index increased 27% YoY to 6,157 points, making Sri Lanka’s stock market the third-best performer in the year, compared to regional exchanges, trailing only behind South Korea and Pakistan with a 76% YoY and 45% YoY gain, respectively.
