CID summons 21 individuals over $ 2.5 m Treasury heist

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has so far recorded statements from 21 individuals in connection with the $ 2.5 million cyber theft involving the Finance Ministry, Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala told Parliament yesterday.

The Minister said the CID had launched a comprehensive investigation into the transfer of $ 2.5 million from the Treasury to a third party.

Wijepala said the Government would take action against any individual found responsible for the incident.

The investigation is continuing amid heightened scrutiny over the Treasury cyber breach and the circumstances under which the funds were transferred.
