CCPI inflation in June at 5.2%

The overall rate of inflation as measured by the Colombo Consumer Price Index (CCPI) in June was 5.2% as against 4.5% in May, the Department of Census and Statistics said yesterday.

It said the annual average inflation in June was recorded at 4.1% as against 3.9% in May.

The year-on-year inflation of the food group has increased to 11.3% in June from 9.9% in May, whilst that of the non-food group rose to 2.5% from 2.2% in May. Contribution to inflation by food commodities was 3.49%, and that of non-food items was 1.71%.
