To commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL), Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe yesterday presented a new Rs. 2,000 commemorative currency note to President Anura Kumara Disanayake at the Presidential Secretariat.
This is the fifth commemorative currency note released by the Central Bank in its history. Issued under the theme “Stability for Prosperity,” the note reflects CBSL’s role in strengthening economic stability as a foundation for national development.
During the presentation, President Disanayake held cordial discussions with Central Bank officials on the institution’s journey, its role in national economic management, and the significance of the anniversary milestone.
The Central Bank, established in August 1950, has been at the centre of Sri Lanka’s monetary and financial system for the past 75 years, guiding policy during both challenging and transformative economic phases.
Participating in the event were Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, Central Bank Senior Deputy Governor K. M. A. N. Daulagala, Assistant Governor K. G. P. Sirikumara and Superintendent – Currency Department P. D. R. Dayananda.
