CB extends deadline for COVID-19 relief appeal to 15 May

  • More time given for cheque realisation

The deadline for submissions by COVID-19 affected businesses and individuals to avail concessions has been extended until 15 May, the Central Bank announced yesterday.

The earlier deadline was 30 April 2020 and concessions are via Rs. 50 billion refinancing scheme to banks and non-bank financial institutions. 

The Monetary Board, issuing a circular, also directed the licensed banks to extend the validity period of cheques valued less than Rs. 500,000 until 15 May.
