CB, Treasury, commercial banks and insurance made essential services

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa yesterday decided to declare the Central Bank, commercial banks, the Treasury, and insurance companies as essential services, the President's Media Division said in a statement.

Secretary to the President Dr. P. B. Jayasundara, in a letter to Central Bank Governor Prof. W.D. Lakshman, instructed that the monetary institution ensure they operate during curfew hours.

However, the public is requested to only visit these institutions for urgent matters.
