Cabinet on Tuesday approved a proposal to call for competitive bids for the selection of contractors to operate luxury train coaches in Badulla, Northern, Eastern, and Southern routes for five years.
The bids are for the procurement of service providers to develop and operate railways for tourism on a lease basis.
The Cabinet proposal was presented by Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Arjuna Ranatunga.
