The Security Forces have formally released 187.56 acres of State land in Kankesanthurai, Jaffna, for civilian use, making it available for the proposed investment zone in the area.
The land, which belongs to the State Cement Corporation and lies in Kankesanthurai West (Grama Niladhari Division J/233) in the Valikamam North (Tellippalai) Divisional Secretariat Division, had been used by the Sri Lanka Army since 1997.
Jaffna Security Forces Headquarters Civil Affairs Officer in Charge Colonel W. M. A. M. Nissanka handed over the release documents to Jaffna District Secretary M. Piratheepan at the Jaffna District Secretariat on 30 September, 2026. The release is part of efforts to make State land in the Northern Province, previously held by the security forces, available for investment, economic activity and development.
