With the reopening of the airport next week, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAASL) yesterday announced that all incoming passengers would have to obtain prior approval from the Foreign Affairs Ministry or the Sri Lanka missions of the respective country to enter into Sri Lanka in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.

CAASL said such approvals would be sent directly to the authority, as they would direct the respective airlines to issue tickets for approved passengers.

Accordingly, CAASL has set up [email protected], a dedicated email address for passenger approvals with effect from 6 January and all approvals will be handled through this email address.

The approvals are not visas but are only due to the current pandemic situation.

The authority has categorically requested passengers to refrain from emailing any other officers via email for any passenger approvals.
