Anti-Corruption Bill up for debate on 8 Oct.

Parliament will debate the Second Reading of the Anti-Corruption (Amendment) Bill on 8 October from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., during a four-day sitting from 6 to 9 October, according to a Parliament statement.

Parliament will tomorrow (6) debate three new sets of foreign exchange rules issued by the Government, along with a resolution on public debt management, from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The day will end with a short debate on an issue raised by the Government.

Seven Private Members’ Motions will be taken up on 9 October, including MP Chaminda Wijesiri’s call for a program to ensure justice for those affected by microfinance loans, and MP Amirthanathan Adaikkalanathan will propose a Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the Black July ethnic violence of 1983.
