Access Engineering secures contract for BIA Development Project

Access Engineering PLC has been awarded contract to build the Main Terminal Building (MTB), Passenger Bridge No. 02 and the Passenger Bridge No. 03 under step 2 of Phase II of the Bandaranaike International Airport Development Project (BIADP).

The Cabinet of Ministers approved awarding the contract based on the recommendations of the Technical Evaluation Committee and the Standing Procurement Committee.

“A total of four bids were received with contractors registered under the Construction Industries Development Authority (CIDA) participating in the competitive process. Access Engineering PLC emerged as the preferred contractor, having submitted substantial responses that met the project’s requirements,” Cabinet Co-Spokesman and Minister Bandula Gunawardena said at the post-Cabinet meeting media briefing yesterday.

The contract pertains to construction activities outlined under the National Competitive Bidding Methodology, as per the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers dated 30 October 2023.

The proposal to this effect submitted by Ports, Shipping and Aviation Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers at its meeting on Monday.
