AASL strengthens collaborative engagement with airline partners

In a continued effort to enhance passenger service levels and foster a culture of collaboration, the Chairman, along with the senior management team of Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Ltd., (AASL) recently convened a strategic meeting with the Board of Airline Representatives (BAR).

The session was attended by the country managers of leading airlines operating in Sri Lanka, and during the discussion, airline country managers shared their network growth plans, outlining anticipated growth in passenger and cargo volumes.

The primary objective of the meeting was to strengthen the partnership between the airport operator and its valued airline stakeholders, ensuring that infrastructure planning, resource optimisation, and service innovation are aligned with airline needs and global aviation trends, ultimately achieving the shared vision—delivering a seamless, passenger-centric airport experience.

The AASL also presented ongoing and upcoming infrastructure development initiatives, with particular emphasis on the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) Terminal 2 Project.

A representative from the Japanese Airport Consultants delivered a comprehensive update on the project’s progress and elaborated on the enhanced operational capacities and passenger facilitation improvements expected upon its completion.

BAR Chairman Dimuthu Tennakoon stated the meeting with the Chairman and the top management of AASL was very successful, as they were able to discuss the current development at BIA and explore the collaborative efforts with all members of the association towards the development of aviation development in the country.

All the airline country managers will convey the progress of these developments to their respective headquarters.
