Tourism earnings up to $ 1.4 b in first five months

Earnings from tourism increased to $ 1.4 billion during the first five months of 2016 in comparison to $ 1.18 billion recorded during the same period of 2015.

Tourist arrivals increased to 125,044 during May 2016, recording a growth of 10.1% over May 2015. Accordingly, tourist arrivals during the first five months of 2016 increased by 18.4% to 846,229 over the corresponding period of 2015. 

The top five sources of tourist arrivals up to May 2016 were India, China, UK, Germany and France, accounting for 52.2% of the total tourist arrivals during the period.
