Two members of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) have resigned with immediate effect. They are Deputy Chairman Engineer Udeni Wickramasinghe and Communication Specialist Mohan Samaranayake.

Of late there have been differences of opinion within the PUCSL, of which Chairman Janaka Ratnayake has been spearheading the effort to minimise power cuts as well as fair increase in electricity tariff.

However, the Government views him as irrational and warned of issuing a charge sheet to remove him. However, despite the warning by Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera, the PUCSL Chief is yet to be served with such a letter. The other member of the PUCSL is lawyer Chathurika Wijesinghe.
