Sri Lanka was honoured with the prestigious ‘Luxury Food Destination of the Year’ award at the “Travel and Taste Awards 2026” held in the United Kingdom.
The award was presented by Travel and Taste Awards Chief Organiser Alex Crosley at the Sri Lanka Tourism promotion stand at the “World Travel Market” exhibition.
The Travel and Taste Awards ceremony celebrates the world’s finest food-centric travel experiences and destinations across 17 award categories.
The winners were selected by a distinguished panel of judges comprising leading food and travel experts, including spirits specialist Millie Milliken-Holdsham, food travel content creator Verna Gao, and hospitality connoisseurs Gina Jackson and Millie Kenny-Ryder. The judges particularly emphasised several factors, including the wave of new boutique hotel groups redefining luxury on the island, the vibrant and dynamic culinary scene, and the way Sri Lanka showcases its exceptional indigenous natural produce.
This prestigious recognition further strengthens Sri Lanka’s position as an emerging luxury food and travel destination, acknowledging the island’s exceptional culinary diversity, outstanding flavours, and high-quality dining experiences.
This stands as a testament to the rich culinary heritage and exceptional food experiences that Sri Lanka offers to international travellers, and adds further momentum to the country’s efforts to attract quality-conscious and experience-driven tourists.
