Maliban hailed as Sri Lanka’s Most Loved Brand for Ready-to-Eat Packed Food

A household name for biscuits, Maliban, recently received the prestigious honour of being ranked as Sri Lanka’s Most-Loved Brand for Ready-to-Eat Packed Food, by LMD’s Brands Annual Ranking 2024. 

This prestigious accolade reflects Maliban’s commitment to quality and excellence; a legacy it has built and grown over 70 years.

The LMD’s Most Loved Brands ranking celebrates brands that have earned the love and loyalty of consumers, nationwide. This achievement thus reaffirms Maliban’s position as the benchmark for product quality and excellence in Sri Lanka’s confectionary and food industry. The Maliban journey is one that started with a quest for excellence and continues to remain as such to this day. Accordingly, over its 70+ year history, Maliban has emerged as the largest manufacturer and exporter of biscuits and confectioneries on the Island and set the benchmark for food safety and management systems in Sri Lanka. It has also emerged as a brand that is trusted by customers worldwide – being enjoyed in over 50 countries – including in jurisdictions with some of the strictest food safety standards in the world, such as the UK, USA, Australia, the EU, and the UAE.

Underscoring the company’s commitment to excellence, Maliban has also won the Sri Lanka National Quality Award (SLNQA) five times, most recently in 2022 and 2021, while also having received the World-Class Award at the Global Performance Excellence awards twice consecutively, in 2016 and 2018, making it the only Sri Lankan company to do so. Maliban is also one of the few Sri Lankan food manufacturers to have obtained ISO 22000 certification for food safety management systems.

Highlighting its commitment to sustainability, Maliban is also the first biscuit manufacturer to receive accredited carbon footprint certificates against the ISO 14064-1:2018 Standard from the Sri Lanka Climate Fund. It is also the first biscuit manufacturer to have been awarded superbrand status, and has received numerous other international and local awards for quality and management excellence.
