The rich, vibrant flavours of Jaffna have arrived in Colombo with the opening of Northern Virundhu by Fox Resorts, a new delivery and takeaway outlet at 77 Braybrooke Street, Colombo 2.

Owned and operated by the esteemed Capital Maharaja Group (CMG), Northern Virunthu was inaugurated with blessings from clergy representing all major faiths, followed by a traditional lighting of the oil lamp by the Management of CMG.

For nearly a decade, Fox Jaffna has built a loyal following for its authentic Northern Sri Lankan cuisine, made from family recipes passed down through generations.

Guests who had long enjoyed these flavours at the hotel in Jaffna had repeatedly asked for a way to experience them closer to home. Northern Virundhu is the Group’s answer – a concept created by popular demand to allow families in Colombo to share a traditional Jaffna “virundhu”, or feast, in the comfort of their own homes.

The launch reflects CMG’s vision of combining heritage with innovation, with food at the heart of culture and family. Northern Virundhu represents a commitment to bringing the warmth, richness, and tradition of a true Northern feast to Colombo.

It also showcases the enthusiasm and passion of the Fox Resorts team. Northern Virundhu is not only about authentic food but also about family, tradition, and sharing. For years, Fox Jaffna has been celebrated for its cuisine, and this new outlet is an opportunity to extend that experience to Colombo, making it accessible to more people.

Group CEO Suresh Srinivasan noted that the outlet aligns with CMG’s larger growth vision. “Northern Virundhu is a direct response to popular demand, and it fits perfectly with our strategy to diversify into new areas of hospitality,” he said. “Fox Resorts is no longer just about hotels — it’s about becoming a lifestyle brand that people can experience every day.”

Northern Virundhu is now open for both takeaway and delivery, with plans to also be available on popular third-party delivery apps soon.
