Two new appointees to Mercantile Investment Board

Mercantile Investments Plc has appointed two new members to its Board of Directors with effect from 9 February 2012.

N. H. Viraj Perera has been appointed as a Non Executive Director whilst S. M. Susantha S. Bandara has been appointed as an Independent Non Executive Director.

Perera is a Director of Tangerine Beach Hotels Plc, Royal Palms Beach Hotels Plc, Blue Oceanic Beach Hotel Ltd., Yala Safari Beach Hotels Ltd and Southasia Economic and Trade Corporation Ltd. He has been attached to Lucian V. Perera Associates, a legal firm for over 10 years. Bandara is a partner of B.R. De Silva and Co, Chartered Accountants since 2004. He holds a BSc Degree in Accountancy from the University of Jayawardenapura, and a MBA from the University of Colombo. He is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and a Fellow member of the Association of Accounting Technicians of Sri Lanka.

Following the two new appointments the Board of Directors of Mercantile Investments Plc comprises S.H.J. Weerasuriya (Chairman), Gerard Ondaatjie (Managing Director), S.H. Jayasuriya (Director – Finance), A.M. Ondaatjie, T.J. Ondaatjie, P.M. Amarasekera (Director – Recoveries), H.A.S.T. Senanayake, P.T.K. Navaratne, N.H.V. Perera (Non Executive Director) and S.M.S.S. Bandara (Independent Non Executive Director).
