The Finance gets new Chairman and MD

The Finance Plc has a new leadership team and Board of Directors comprising several senior professionals.

P.J. Jayasinghe has been made Chairman/Non Executive Director, with S.R. Bandaranayake and Richard Rodrigo coming in as Independent Non Executive Director. Suranjith Gunawardena has been appointed as Managing Director. These appoints are effective 5 November though disclosed to the Colombo Stock Exchange this week. The other new Independent Non Executive Director is P.L.D. Senaviratne.

Jayasinghe is the retired Deputy General Manager of Bank of Ceylon with 38 years experience. Bandaranayake counts over 47 years of collective experience in corporate management, general management, strategic planning in finance, marketing, and real estate. He was the Chief Executive Director of The Finance Plc in 2001 before he retired from service. Thereafter he worked as an Independent Consultant to Nivasi Developers and joined Arpico Finance as the Joint Managing Director. He is currently Chairman of Frankfurt Arcade Ltd, realtors and a property management company.

Richard Rodrigo is a senior banker with over 40 years experience at Commercial Bank possessing full professional qualifications of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, London. His experience covers both domestic and international operations, international trade, channel management, SME lending and advisory, marketing and corporate communications and compliance.

Suranjith Gunawardena began his career as an Internal Auditor at Unilever Plc and served in several Boards of subsidiaries of John Keells Holdings. He has worked has worked in multinational organisations based in UK, Germany and South Africa. He restructured and re-launched The Finance and Guarantee Company Ltd. He has a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Hons) from University of Sri Jayawardenapura and a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.

The new appointments follow the resignation of the former Board comprising Dr. S.H.A.M. Abeyratne (Chairman), S. Rajapakse (Deputy Chairman), A.P. Lekamge (Managing Director), T.B. Ekanayake, R.D. Abeywickrama, Dr. Rohantha Athukorala, R.A.H.I. Kularathna and M.T. Galgamuwa in November 2015.
