In its ongoing campaign to further inculcate the time-tested habit of savings, and establishing a Sri Lankan first, the Seylan Bank has declared the last Saturday of every month as Seylan Tikiri Plus ‘Kids Banking Day’.
On this day, every month, all of Seylan Bank’s 94 branches all over Sri Lanka will take on a festive atmosphere during their working hours from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. All branches will welcome children between the ages of three and 15 years to come over with their parents or guardians, or the older ones by themselves, to be a part of the Seylan Tikiri Plus ‘Kids Banking Day’.
In keeping with the spirit of Seylan Tikiri Plus ‘Kids Banking Day,’ children themselves will make their deposits and learn to operate their accounts under the guidance of the staff of the respective branches.
All branches which operate the Sunday banking service instead of the Saturday banking service will conduct its Seylan Tikiri Plus ‘Kids Banking Day’ on the last Sunday every month.
Assistant General Manager Marketing at the Seylan Bank Kamal Deshapriya said, “As a responsible corporate citizen, we’re happy to redefine the boundaries of children’s banking with the launch of Seylan Tikiri Plus ‘Kids Banking Day’. We have been actively promoting and encouraging the savings habit among all our junior customers throughout the country. The response we’re had has been encouraging to say the least.”
Children are advised to make their deposits in multiples of Rs. 1,000 and be in the running for an all-expenses-paid trip to ‘Bangkok Dream World’. 25 lucky children will be selected to go on this fabulous tour and with both parents per child.
A highly visited amusement park in the Asian region, the Bangkok Dream World has welcomed thousands of children and adults alike and transported them to a Dream World as its name suggests.
“In addition to regular children’s savings accounts and of course the Seylan Tikiri Plus saving account, we also operate Student Savings Centres in 83 schools all over the country. These centres not only reward child depositors across Sri Lanka but also persuasively inculcate and encourage the savings habit in children from a very, very early age.”
The savings habit, introduced to children and nurtured in them at a very young age, will in turn, lay the foundation and pave the way for the creation of a whole new generation of responsible adults of tomorrow.
