Saumya appointed to Sampath Bank Board

Sampath Bank Plc has announced the appointment of Saumya Amarasekera as a Non Executive Director to its Board with effect from 1 June 2012.

The appointment follows the Central Bank approval.

Amarasekera is an Attorney-at-Law and has a Masters in Law (LLM) from the University of Pennsylvania with particular emphasis on insurance law, privacy and defamation law.

She has been in active practice for over 24 years mainly in civil law practicing in the original, appellate and the Supreme Court.

She has an extensive practice in areas relating to money recovery, property, testamentary, condominium disputes as well as areas relating to family law. Amarasekera has also undertaken litigation on behalf of large finance companies and banks, etc.

She also specialised in arbitrations both local and international and has appeared before International Arbitration Tribunal relating to disputes emanating from building constructions etc.

Amarasekera is a member of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka and a lecturer at the Continuous Legal Education Program conducted by the BASL.

Samaranayake (Chief Financial Officer/Executive Director), D. Sooriyaarachchi (Non-Executive Independent Director/Alternate Director to L.J.K. Hettiaratchi, D.S. Wijayatilake (Non-Exec-utive Independent Director), K.A.M.K. Ranasinghe (Non-Executive Independent Director / Alternate to D. Sooriyaarachchi), S.K.G. Senanayake (Senior Director / Alternate Dir-ector to W.D.P. De Mel), A.H.W. Senanayake, R.P. Pathirana, W.D.P. De Mel, D. Sooriyaarachchi (Alternate to K.A.M.K. Ranasinghe) and S. Amarasekera (Non-Executive Director).
