Sampath Bank installs ATMs on Southern Expressway

Sampath Bank, the premier private bank and the first local bank to implement networked ATMs in Sri Lanka, commissioned two new ATMs at Welipenna service areas A and B on the Southern Expressway recently.

They were ceremonially opened by Sampath Bank Assistant General Manager Administration Amanda Abeyweera in the presence of Sampath Bank Manager Premises Kithsiri Adikaram and Manager Logistics Janaka Jayawickrama.

ATMs on the expressway are seen as a great initiative that will serve thousands of people using the road network each day. The two new ATMs have been installed facing each other in independent locations (off-site ATMs) on the way to Galle and way back to Colombo. Maintained by the Road Development Authority, the Southern Expressway is Sri Lanka’s first E-class highway.

The ATMs operational 24 hours, will facilitate Sampath Bank clientele and in addition any card holder carrying Union Bank, NSB, BOC, HNB, PABC , HDFC, DFCC Vardhana, NTB, MCB, LB Finance, NDB, Master Card or VISA cards could also use these ATMs for their transactions.

ATMs are a popular way for people in the country to access their cash and Sampath Bank intends to expand its ATM network further and claims 270 of its own ATMs and total of 1,750 networked ATMs island wide.
