People’s Bank rewards Ethera Isura 2012 grand draw winner

People’s Bank recently held the grand draw for its Ethera Isura NRFC account holders. The grand draw first prize was Rs. 1 million which was won by Siril K. Weerasingha from Kiribathgoda. Additionally, 10 prizes each worth Rs. 100,000 and 15 prizes each worth Rs. 50,000 were awarded to the lucky winners.

Weerasingha, who is currently employed in Kuwait, expressing his joy over the win, said: “At first, I couldn’t believe that I had won the grand prize. I felt very happy to hear that I had won Rs. 1 million. It is with great difficulty that we make a decent living today. I opened up an NRFC account in 1984 on a friend’s recommendation.”

He continued: “I have also taken a loan from People’s Bank which I’ve paid off and I intend on depositing this prize money in the People’s Bank account. The bank’s international accounting department functions really well. I recommend all those who work abroad to use the NRFC account of People’s Bank. It offers a good interest rate and other facilities and a chance to win competitions.”

Five winners were selected in the monthly draw held from 1 March 2012 to 31 December 2012 for prizes of Rs. 25,000 each. In order to qualify for the monthly draw, a minimum balance of US$ 250 or an equivalent amount in any other foreign currency had to be maintained during any month from 1 March 2012 to 31 December 2012.

For 2013, ‘Rata Salli Wasana’, a new draw will be implemented and the ‘Ethera Isura’ account holders will be eligible for this draw. This new program will add more value to foreign exchange. All the foreign earnings sent via People’s Bank’s Swift, People’s E-Remittance and Telex between 1 January 2013 and 30 June 2013 will qualify for the draw. During each month, a daily winner will receive a mobile phone whilst the winner of the month will be awarded Rs. 25,000. The first prize of the grand draw will be Rs. 1,000,000 with the second prize being Rs. 500,000 and a third prize of Rs. 250,000.

The award ceremony was held under the patronage of CEO/General Manager of People’s Bank, N. Vasantha Kumar, the corporative management and other employees of People’s Bank, with the presence of the customers.
