Modern facility for Trinco People’s Banks

Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa opened on March 12 two modern, state-of-the art buildings which will house the Trincomalee and Mutur branches of the People’s Bank. The first building houses the Trinco main branch which was opened in July 1967. Today its customers number over 45,000. The Mutur branch which opened in 1992 has25000 customers, Minister Rajapaksa and People’s Bank Chairman Gamini Senarath accepted the deposits of the first five customers at the Trinco branch’s new building on the opening day. This branch is the People’s 66th branch while the Mutur branch is the 95th Among the others who attended the events were Eastern Province Governor Mohan Wijewickrema, Chief Minister Abdul Majeed, Deputy Ministers Susantha Punchi Nilame and K.D.S. Gunawardena, Eastern Provincial Council Chairman Ariyawathi Galappatthi, People’s Bank CEO and General Manager Wasantha Kumara, Trinco PB Manager K. Selvaraj and Mutur PB Manager S.M. Rateef.
