First-ever co-branded retail credit card launch

Standard Chartered and Arpico Supercentre recently launched Sri Lanka’s first ever retail co-branded credit card at an event held at the Hilton Colombo Residencies attended by customers and special invitees. The co-branded credit card will offer three Arpico Privilege points for every Rs. 100 spent at any Arpico Supercentre outlet which will be awarded instantly in-store, one Arpico Privilege point for every Rs. 200 spent anywhere locally or overseas. Accumulated Points will be transferred to ‘The Arpico Privilege Credit Card’ on a monthly basis. Standard Chartered Head of Consumer Banking Sanjay Wijemanne said: “Standard Chartered has always strived to provide innovative products and services to meet the needs of our customers and clients. We believe that Arpico Supercentre offered the ideal partnership to bring a truly value-added product to local consumers, and I look forward to seeing the card grow in popularity, as it is a win-win proposition for consumers as well as Arpico and the bank.” The Standard Chartered-Arpico co-branded retail credit card is CHIP and PIN enabled, a feature which will facilitate universality of the card as some establishments in certain countries hold terminals which accepts only CHIP and PIN Cards. At such establishments cardholders will be required to enter a PIN number issued together with the credit card, to authenticate the transaction. The co-branded retail credit card will join Standard Chartered’s suite of cards which are also CHIP and PIN enabled. The Standard Chartered-Arpico co-branded retail credit card will also provide access to cardholders to exclusive discounts and privileges on selected products at Arpico Supercentre as well as the other features and benefits already existing on a Standard Chartered Credit Card such as balance transfers, loan on card, automatic travel insurance and instalment plans. The Privilege point balance will be stated at the end of the bill produced at Arpico while all points earned on this card will be redeemable only at Arpico. Customers are encouraged to apply for an Arpico Privilege credit card during their next visit at an Arpico Supercenter outlet.
