Commercial Bank to open 57 service points on Deepavali day

Commercial Bank has announced that it will keep open 57 service points on Deepavali Festival Day (26 October), a statutory Public and Bank holiday that marks the Hindu Festival.

All over-the-counter transactions will be possible at the Bank’s branches at Wellawatte, Kollupitiya, Kotahena, Maharagama, Borella, Nugegoda, Narahenpita, Battaramulla, Panchikawatte, Union Place, Wattala, Dehiwala, Moratuwa, Nittambuwa, Kiribathgoda, Avissawella, Piliyandala, Main Street, and at the Foreign Branch at Colombo 1, Colombo 7, Ampara, Galle City, Kandy City Office, Jaffna, Negombo, Majestic City, Katubedde Holiday Banking Centre and Kurunegala as well as at its 29 supermarket Banking Counters, the Bank said.

A spokesman for Commercial Bank said the Bank has historically kept a significant number of branches open on bank holidays that are mercantile working days, for the benefit of its large and widespread customer base. This practice has been welcomed by customers in many parts of the country, he said.

The only Sri Lankan bank in the world’s top 1000, the Commercial Bank of Ceylon operates 205 branches and service points in Sri Lanka. Its ATM network of 450 terminals is the single largest automated cash dispensing system in the country.
