Central Bank releases latest educational publication

The Central Bank released its latest educational publication titled ‘Analysis of Basic Economics Principles,’ authored by P. Samarasiri, Assistant Governor supervising the financial system stability cluster of the Central Bank.



This book has been compiled based on key topics used to understand and analyse the working of an economy. Therefore, the book covers topics covering operational base of an economy, behaviour of consumers and producers, goods and services markets, measurement of macroeconomic activities, macroeconomic equilibrium, money, banking and monetary policy, international trade and finance and balance of payment, public finance and fiscal policy and current global financial crisis.  Therefore, this book is a very useful academic volume to students of GCE (A/L), professional courses and universities studying economics as well as teachers, academia and policymakers. The other book authored by Samarasiri titled ‘Transactions of Money, Banking and the Economy,’ covering key topics on the financial sector of an economy was released in August last year. The book contains financial system of Sri Lanka, financial markets, money and monetary policy, foreign exchange market, commercial banking, bank supervision, central banking and current global financial crisis.

These two books are available for sale at the Central Bank’s sales counter at the Center for Banking Studies, Rajagiriya and at major bookstores in the country.
