Union Bank together with University of Moratuwa and the National Innovation Agency in a milestone Government and private sector partnership commenced the National Entrepreneurship Development Program (NEDP) in 2024 with the vision of upskilling business owners and those with viable start up ideas as part of Union Bank School of Social Entrepreneurship agenda, bringing together knowledge, innovation, and financial support for SME development.

Vice President – Marketing Thishani Dissanayake stated that “We kicked off the 3rd phase of the program with the participation of over 200 existing and potential business owners. We see much greater demand for the program since its launch and participants are selected carefully based on the criteria given. We were delighted to see an increase in participants from across the country including several from the North of the country showcasing the commitment and effort of business owners to upskill themselves to grow and develop their businesses in a competitive business landscape.  In addition, the new participants had the opportunity to hear success stories of those who completed the certificate in the previous two batches and how they have conquered new opportunities and created more demand for their products and aligned their businesses for greater success. Union Bank takes pride in being a partner in this program and we thank the University of Moratuwa and the NIA for their continued efforts in making this program a huge success.  This is a free opportunity for business owners to upskill themselves and to us at Union Bank it’s an opportunity to give back to the communities we do business in as well”.
