Thilan joins Amana Takaful Board

Top professional Thilan Wijesinghe has been appointed to the Board of Amana Takaful PLC as an Independent Non-Executive Director with effect from 27 October.

He is currently Chairman/CEO of TWC, an investment bank which Thilan founded in 2012. He is also Director of several other public and private companies.

Thilan started his career at PWC as Senior Consultant and Sampath Bank as Head of Planning. In the early 1990s he co-founded Asia Capital PLC, which became Sri Lanka's largest investment bank at the time. 

In September 1995, Thilan was invited to become the youngest ever Chairman of the BOI and almost immediately sold his shareholding in Asia Capital. As its longest serving Chairman, Thilan pioneered PPP transactions in Sri Lanka when he set up the Bureau of Infrastructure Investments under the BOI in 1996. 

Thilan has also headed Sri Lanka's two largest public listed real estate companies, Asian Hotels Properties PLC (owning company of the Cinnamon Grand and Lakeside), and directed the sale of this company to John Keells in 2003. He was also Group Managing Director of Overseas Realty Ceylon PLC, owning company of the WTC and Havelock City. 

Thilan quit the corporate world in 2010 to pursue entrepreneurial interests and co-founded several businesses such as the Ceylon Tea Trails resort (majority owned by Dilmah Tea), Wow.lk (sold to Dialog Axiata), and Sapphirus Lanka (highest value-added exporter of sapphire). 

With the latest appointment the Board of Amana Takafu comprises of Chairman M.Z.M. Ghouse, Managing Director M.H.S. Kassim, S.R. Hussain, E.D. Wickramasuriya and Thilan Wijesinghe.
