Asia Capital PLC has appointed Tamao Watanabe to its Board as an Independent Non-Executive Director.
Watanabe is a Japanese investor with experience in real estate and cross-border investments, having been active in Sri Lanka since 2016. Over this period, she has played a role in strengthening economic ties between Japan and Sri Lanka, facilitating approximately $ 10 million in foreign direct investment.
Her professional background is centred on real estate investment and development, with experience in identifying and executing high-value investment opportunities. She has also built a network linking Japanese investors with Sri Lankan businesses, supporting cross-border partnerships and capital flows.
Her investments in Sri Lanka span several sectors, including real estate, tourism and hospitality, restaurants, and import-related businesses. These ventures have introduced Japanese standards of quality and operational practices while adapting to local market conditions, contributing to business expansion and economic activity.
Watanabe completed her studies at Showa Women’s University Junior College, specialising in English Language and Literature in 1993, followed by an advanced course in 1994. She later undertook a Real Estate Business Course at the Japan School of Business in 1997.
