Sri Lanka Insurance (SLIC) was recognised with a Commendation Award in the ‘Best Supply Chain Practicing Organisation – Service Category’ at the National Supply Chain Excellence Awards 2025. The prestigious ceremony, organised by the Institute of Supply and Materials Management (ISMM) in collaboration with the Ministry of Industries, took place on October 24, 2025, at the Monarch Imperial Hotel, Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte.

The honour recognises SLIC’s exemplary performance in procurement management, reflecting its steadfast commitment to transparency, compliance, and operational efficiency. Selected from among 24 nominated organisations, SLIC’s procurement division was commended for its strong governance framework and adherence to national procurement guidelines, ensuring responsible and sustainable practices across its supply chain.

The awards formed part of the National Supply Chain Day 2025 celebrations, which featured a comprehensive program including a morning seminar and an evening awards ceremony. Organised annually by ISMM, the initiative celebrates best practices across manufacturing, service, and trading sectors, recognising excellence among organisations of Extra Large, Large, Medium, and Small enterprise categories.

Sri Lanka Insurance Chairman Nusith Kumaratunga said, “This recognition underscores our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and efficiency in every aspect of our operations. Sri Lanka Insurance continues to strengthen its procurement processes through accountability, digitisation, and compliance, ensuring that public trust remains at the heart of what we do.”

As the largest State-Owned insurer and one of the country’s largest contributors to the national economy, SLIC has embedded procurement excellence within its broader corporate strategy. The company continues to modernise its processes through digital tools, governance structures, and performance monitoring mechanisms, promoting value creation and sustainability in alignment with national objectives.

This national commendation further reinforces SLIC’s standing as a benchmark institution in responsible corporate governance and operational excellence, strengthening its leadership not only in the insurance industry but also among the most transparent and well governed public sector organisations in Sri Lanka.
