Siva Karthigun appointed CEO at Amana Takaful

Amana Takaful PLC has announced the appointment of Siva Karthigun as the new CEO.

He joined the Company in March as the Chief Operating Officer and succeeds Shehan Feisal who resigned with effect from 31 March 2024 having assumed office in July 2020

Karthigun is a qualified insurance professional with over 18 years of experience in various functions of general insurance in companies within Sri Lanka and overseas. 

A Council Member of the Association of Chartered Insurance Professionals, Sri Lanka and former Council member of the Sri Lanka Insurance Institute, he has worked with actuaries in relation to motor and medical insurance pricing.

Karthigun has hands-on experience in underwriting and reinsurance both treaty and facultative dealing with reinsurers across the globe. He has specialised in underwriting and reinsurance functions and related operations.

He has in the past held the position of Head of Underwriting and Operations LOLC General Insurance PLC, and Head of Non-Motor Underwriting at Sharq Insurance LLC, Doha, Qatar, and as AGM Technical and Reinsurance at Janashakthi General Insurance.

He is a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of India (FIII), Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, UK (ACII), and holds a Diploma in Actuarial Science. He also holds Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), Bharathidasan University, India.
