Corporate Management Consultants, under the leadership of Malik Cader, is organising a timely and practical seminar on The “Changes to Sri Lanka’s Anti-Money Laundering Regime,” on Thursday, 20 August 2026, from 2.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. at The Kingsbury Hotel, Colombo.

It focuses on the recent amendments to Sri Lanka’s Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing (AML/CFT) framework.

Three significant amendments were passed by Parliament on 9 July 2026 to strengthen Sri Lanka’s AML/CFT regime in line with international standards and enhance the country’s framework for combating money laundering, terrorist financing, and financial crime.

The seminar will examine the practical and regulatory implications of these amendments to the following key pieces of legislation: Prevention of Money Laundering Act, No. 5 of 2006 (as amended); Financial Transactions Reporting Act, No. 6 of 2006 (as amended) and Convention on the Suppression of Terrorist Financing Act, No. 25 of 2005 (as amended).

With these legislative changes introducing important compliance considerations for financial institutions and other stakeholders, the seminar is designed to provide participants with a clearer understanding of the amended legal and regulatory framework, as well as the implications for their respective organisations and compliance functions.

The seminar will feature an eminent panel of speakers with extensive experience in law, financial regulation, compliance, and enforcement.

Justice A. H. M. D. Nawaz, Judge of the Supreme Court, will participate as the Guest Speaker, bringing his extensive legal expertise to the discussion.

The Central Bank of  Sri Lanka Financial Intelligence Unit Director Dr. Subhani Keerthiratne will deliver the keynote providing insight into the regulatory and financial intelligence perspective on Sri Lanka’s strengthened AML/CFT framework.

The program will also feature Securities and Exchange Commission former Chairman Dr. D. C. Jayasuriya PC, and the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption Commissioner Chethiya Gunasekara PC, bringing perspectives from financial-market regulation and enforcement.

PMF Finance PLC Chairman Malik Cader will also contribute to the discussion, sharing his experience and insights on corporate governance, compliance, and the implications of the evolving regulatory environment.

The seminar will provide an important forum for professionals to understand the recent legislative changes, their implications for compliance, and the broader direction of Sri Lanka’s efforts to strengthen its AML/CFT regime.

The program will be particularly relevant to Compliance Officers of Banks and Financial Institutions, Company Directors, Company Secretaries, Lawyers, Accountants, Auditors, and other professionals involved in regulatory compliance and financial governance.
