Rupee depreciates

The secondary Bond market yields increased across the board, while activity and transaction volumes remained healthy.
The 15.12.29 maturity traded at 10.75%. The 01.08.30, 15.10.30 and 01.02.31 maturities traded up, in the ranges of 11.10%-11.15%, 11.10%-11.30% and 11.15%-11.30% respectively. The 15.12.32 maturity traded up the range of 11.65%-11.75%. The 01.06.33 maturity traded at 11.70%-11.72% and the 15.10.34 maturity traded up, the range of 11.90%-11.97%.
In the money market, the net liquidity surplus stood at Rs. 111.06 billion. Rs. 68.06 billion was deposited at the Central Bank’s SDFR (Standing Deposit Facility Rate) of 8.25%.
In addition, the Domestic Operations Department (DOD) of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka mopped up Rs. 33 billion by way of an overnight repo auction at a weighted average yield of 8.74%, Rs. 10 billion through a 7-day term repo auction at the weighted average yield of 8.75% and Rs. 40 billion through a 28-day term repo auction at the weighted average yield of 9.15%.
The weighted average yields on overnight call money and repos stood at 8.93% and 8.99% respectively.
Forex market
The USD/LKR rate on spot contracts closed at Rs. 330.30/330.60 yesterday, with the rupee depreciating from Rs. 329.50/329.80 recorded on the previous day.
The total USD/LKR traded volume for 23 September amounted to $ 90.30 million.
