Yields in the secondary Bond market remained broadly steady yesterday, consolidating across much of the yield curve. Market activity was subdued; however, several block transactions were executed.
The 15.12.26 maturity traded at a yield of 10.05% while the 15.09.27 traded at yields of 10.36%-10.39%. The 15.09.29, 15.10.29 and 15.12.29 maturities changed hands at 11.20%-11.25%, 11.25% and 11.25% respectively. The 01.07.28 and 15.12.28 maturities traded at 10.70%-10.79% and 10.80%. The 01.07.30 maturity at 11.53%-11.55%.
In the money market, the net liquidity surplus stood at Rs. 136.54 billion yesterday. An amount of Rs. 129.04 billion was deposited at Central Bank’s SDFR (Standing Deposit Facility Rate) at 8.25%.
In addition, the Domestic Operations Department (DOD) of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka drained out an amount of Rs. 7.50 billion by way of an overnight Repo auction at a weighted average rate of 8.74% as against an offered amount of
Rs. 60.00 billion.
The weighted average rates on overnight call money and Repos were recorded at 9.01% and 9.02% respectively.
Forex market
The USD/LKR spot rate closed the day at Rs. 336.15/336.25 yesterday, appreciating against the previous day’s close of Rs. 336.25/336.35.
The total USD/LKR traded volume for 22 July was $ 104.35 million.
