Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation General Limited (SLIC General) yesterday said it has appointed Asiri Wickramarachchi as Acting Chief Executive Officer, effective 21 September 2026.
Wickramarachchi brings over 19 years of insurance experience across leading local and multinational insurers, with expertise spanning underwriting, claims, reinsurance and technical operations. Prior to his appointment, he served as Chief Officer- General Insurance at SLIC General, overseeing the company’s key technical functions.
He holds the Fellowship (FCII) from the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), UK, recognised as the highest professional qualification in insurance. In 2011, he obtained his ACII and Chartered Insurer status, becoming one of the youngest Sri Lankans to achieve the qualification. He was subsequently awarded the Most Outstanding Student Award at the 2012 Insurance Congress in Colombo, presented to the highest-performing ACII-qualified individual for 2011.
Commenting on the appointment, Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation Chairman Nusith Kumaratunga said: “We are pleased to appoint Asiri Wickramarachchi as Acting Chief Executive Officer of SLIC General. His technical expertise, industry experience and strong understanding of our business position him well to lead the company at this important stage. Having served as Chief Officer – General Insurance, Asiri brings valuable continuity to our leadership as we take SLIC General forward.”
The appointment comes as SLIC General continues its journey towards a more customer-centred culture, with a stronger focus on customer experience, service excellence, innovation and sustainable growth.
