SDB bank was recognised as the Banking Sector runner-up at the National Business Excellence Awards, reaffirming its position as a purpose-driven financial institution committed to sustainable growth, responsible banking and meaningful social impact.
Organised by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL), the National Business Excellence Awards is one of the country’s most respected platforms for recognising organisations that demonstrate excellence across business performance, governance, sustainability, innovation and value creation.
The recognition reflects SDB bank’s continued progress in combining sound financial performance with a strong commitment to national development. Through its operations, the bank continues to support financial inclusion, women’s empowerment, small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) development, digital accessibility and the advancement of communities across Sri Lanka.
Acting CEO Manoj Akmeemana said: “Being recognised as the Banking Sector runner-up is an important acknowledgement of the progress we continue to make as a purpose-driven financial institution. This recognition reflects the dedication of our employees and the continued trust placed in us by our customers, shareholders, business partners and communities.”
“Our focus extends beyond financial performance. We remain committed to creating sustainable economic and social value by supporting entrepreneurs, SMEs, individuals and communities while strengthening responsible banking practices across our operations,” he added.
Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles remain central to SDB bank’s strategy and operating philosophy. The bank continues to strengthen its customer-focused solutions, digital capabilities and community-centred initiatives to improve access to financial services and enable broader participation in the formal economy.
The bank said the latest recognition will further motivate SDB bank to deepen its sustainability agenda, strengthen stakeholder confidence and continue contributing to Sri Lanka’s long-term economic and social progress.
