Reserves marginally down

Official reserve assets held by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) fell marginally by $ 28 million from a month earlier to $ 6.21 billion as at end-October 2025, latest CBSL data shows.

Foreign currency reserves amounted to $ 6.1 billion, gold $ 80 million and $31 million in Special Drawing Rights.

According to CBSL, the expected net outflow from reserves over the next 12 months amounts to about $ 1.98 billion.

Also, aggregate short and long positions in forwards and futures in foreign currencies vis-à-vis the domestic currency (including the forward leg of currency swaps) amount to $ 2 billion within the next three months and $ 1.4 billion more than three months and up to a year, CBSL said.
