Professional turned tech-entrepreneur Aprameya appointed to NDB Board

NDB Bank has announced the appointment of corporate professional turned entrepreneur Shweta Aprameya as an Independent Non-Executive Director with effect from 28 April 2023.

Aprameya was one of the founding team members and COO and Senior Vice President of Airtel Payments Bank in India.

She has also served as a Digital Finance Advisor to IFC/World Bank Group clients in Sri Lanka and India on large scale digital transformation projects. She serves on the board of MAHA Agriculture Microfinance in Myanmar as IFC Nominee Director.

Shweta is an advisor to early stage social impact ventures in India. Her digital transformation drive, grounded knowledge in economics and management and varied experience in the Digital Financial Inclusion space contributes towards her excellence. She is a corporate professional turned entrepreneur who believes in building ideas into businesses at scale that directly contribute to the growth and impact of emerging sectors. 

Turning towards entrepreneurship post a successful career at NCR Corporation, UK, in a global business role; Shweta has set-up Fintech ventures for expanding and delivering of financial access, choice and control in India through YTS Solutions Ltd and ARTHimpact Digital Loans Ltd.

Shweta holds a MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management - USA, a MSc in Economic Management and Policy - UK and a BA (Economics) in India. She has received much praise for her work and has been honoured and recognised in the BW 40 Under 40 “Elite club 2022” by Business World. She has been recognised by MIT Sloan School of Management as the Principal Innovative Leader of the Future and awarded with the Influential Change Maker Award.

With the latest appointment the Board of NDB Bank Plc comprises Sriyan Cooray (Chairman), Dimantha Seneviratne (Director/CEO), Bernard Sinniah, Sujeewa Mudalige, Kushan D. Alwis, Fay P. Chetnakarnkul, K.V. Chandima Dilrukshi and Kasturi A. Wilson.
