Hatton National Bank PLC has appointed Pradeep de Almeida to its Boars as an Independent Non-Executive Director.

A highly accomplished technology and business leader, de Almeida counts close to three decades of local and international experience spanning telecommunications, digital transformation, IT, security, and large-scale infrastructure operations. A Chartered Engineer by profession, he brings deep expertise in technology strategy, operational excellence, and enterprise transformation, with a proven track record of delivering sustainable growth and profitability.

He currently serves as Director of Engineering Technology Operations, Innovation, Digital and Analytics at EDOTCO Group, one of the world’s leading telecommunications infrastructure companies operating across seven countries in South Asia and South East Asia. In this role, he oversees group-wide technology strategy, engineering, innovation, digital transformation, analytics and AI, and security initiatives. Under his technology and IT leadership, EDOTCO achieved a significant turnaround within a short period through disciplined cost optimisation, digitalisation, and innovation-driven initiatives.

Prior to this, de Almeida had a distinguished tenure of over 27 years, of which 14 years were as Group Chief Technology Officer of Dialog Axiata PLC, where he played a pivotal role in transforming the organisation into a market leader. He led large-scale network modernisation, drove substantial cost efficiencies, and spearheaded the deployment of next-generation quad play technologies, including DTH, IPTV, FTTH, LTE, and 5G. His strategic leadership consistently delivered industry-leading performance and operational excellence.

De Almeida has extensive board and governance experience, having served on multiple boards and advisory councils across the telecommunications and technology ecosystem. He currently holds a Board Director position at EDOTCO Bangladesh and has previously served on boards including SLINTEC, University of Moratuwa Research Lab, Dialog Network Services, and Digital Reality Lanka, among others. He is widely recognised for his ability to align technology with business strategy, strengthen governance frameworks, and drive innovation at scale. His experience spans complex stakeholder environments, including regulators, government institutions, and multinational partners, making him well-positioned to contribute to the strategic oversight of a leading financial institution.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering) with Second Class Honours from the University of Moratuwa and is an alumnus of INSEAD, IMD, and the Asia School of Business. He is a Chartered Engineer and a member of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka.
