People’s Micro-Commerce celebrates 15 years with inaugural awards ceremony amidst record-breaking growth

People’s Micro-Commerce (PML), a subsidiary of People’s Leasing and Finance PLC, celebrated its 15th anniversary with its inaugural awards ceremony at the Hilton Colombo. The event honored the company’s extraordinary achievements and its emergence as Sri Lanka’s fastest-growing microfinance company.

The celebration highlighted PML’s record-breaking growth, including a portfolio exceeding 7 billion, a 1.5% Non-Performing Advances (NPA) ratio, and a 99.36% collection ratio, serving over 100,000 clients.

Reflecting this momentum, a total of 68 prestigious awards were presented across categories recognizing excellence in Marketing, Recovery, Regional and Branch Performance, Back Office, and Support Functions. Special service awards were also presented to those with a decade of dedicated service, alongside performances that showcased the vibrant culture of PML.

One of the highlights of the night was the presentation of the Chairman’s Award to Mr. Lahiru Nuwan Bandara from the Kekirawa Branch recognized as the highest individual contributor in terms of portfolio growth.

Both Chairman Dulinda Perera and CEO Wasantha Gunawardena spoke at the event, emphasizing that the awards celebrated not just numbers but the collective strength and dedication of the PML team. The evening concluded by cementing PML’s position as a trailblazer poised for future growth and community empowerment.
