People’s Bank yesterday said it has partnered with the Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation Ministry on a concessionary loan scheme to support young agripreneurs in Sri Lanka.
Under this initiative, aspiring agricultural entrepreneurs can obtain loans of up to Rs. 5 million at a concessional interest rate of just 4% per annum, with a flexible repayment period of five years. The scheme is designed to encourage innovation, sustainability, and youth-led growth in the agricultural sector, the bank said in a statement.
The signing ceremony was held under the patronage of Agriculture Minister K. D. Lalkantha and Deputy Agriculture Minister Namal Karunaratne. The agreement was formally signed by Agriculture Secretary D. P. Wickramasinghe and People’s Bank Deputy General Manager – SME, Development and Micro Finance Wickrama Narayana and Assistant General Manager – Development and Micro Finance P.G.N.P. Liyanage.
