Highlights of multiple events hosted by Pan Asia Bank for International Women’s Day
In celebration of International Women’s Day 2026, Pan Asia Bank rolled out a series of impactful initiatives focused on empowering women through financial literacy, reaching more than 1,000 women across Sri Lanka.
Aligned with the theme, ‘Empower women through financial literacy’, the bank partnered with the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka and the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI) to conduct five major knowledge-sharing sessions aimed at strengthening financial awareness and promoting long-term economic security among women. The flagship program was held on 10 March 2026 at the auditorium of the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka under the theme – ‘She leads the future: Sustainable growth with purpose’. Hosted by the Chamber, the event brought together over 250 participants representing diverse women’s groups, professional networks and industry sectors.
During the session titled ‘Empowering women through financial literacy’, expert insights were shared by Pan Asia Bank Assistant General Manager – Deposit Mobilisation Buddhika Perera and Senior Manager – Development Banking and Sustainability Management Christman Fernando. The discussion focused on practical financial planning, savings discipline, wealth creation strategies and building long-term financial independence.
Extending the reach of the initiative beyond Colombo, Pan Asia Bank conducted four additional sessions in collaboration with BOI Sri Lanka at the BOI Zones in Katunayake, Avissawella and Wathupitiwala from 11th-13th March 2026. These sessions engaged more than 800 women employees working within the industrial zones, offering accessible and actionable financial knowledge tailored to their needs.
The BOI programs centred on enhancing everyday financial capability, including budgeting, savings strategies and planning for future financial security. The sessions were conducted by Buddhika Perera, who emphasised the importance of informed financial decision-making in achieving personal and professional empowerment. As part of the initiative, participants were given the opportunity to win Adaraneeya AE Women’s Savings Accounts introduced by Pan Asia Bank, encouraging them to begin or strengthen their formal banking journey.
In addition, the bank also launched a special 13-month Women’s Fixed Deposit offering an attractive 9.5% interest rate exclusively for Adaraneeya AE account holders, representing an additional 0.5% interest above the standard rate available to regular women customers. These initiatives affirm Pan Asia Bank’s commitment to supporting women’s empowerment by enhancing financial knowledge, promoting financial inclusion and contributing to sustainable economic growth.
