Nishani Ariyawansa joins SDB Bank Board

Sanasa Development Bank PLC has appointed Nishani Ariyawansa to its Board as an Independent Non-Executive Director.

Ariyawansa is an accomplished finance professional with over three decades of experience spanning banking, financial management, strategic planning, risk management and corporate leadership. She served as Chief Financial Officer of Standard Chartered Bank from 2010 to 2024, playing a key role in the bank’s strategy, financial management, regulatory reporting, risk forums and senior management decision-making.

Earlier in her career, she held several senior finance positions within Standard Chartered and ANZ Grindlays Bank, building extensive expertise across business finance, taxation, and financial controls and planning. She also commenced her Career at Ernst and Young and have been part of Audit teams covering Global Banks and Multinational companies.

A strong advocate of professional standards and effective people leadership, Ariyawansa has also contributed to Corporate Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) initiatives by co-chairing the D&I committee at Standard Chartered Bank.

Since January 2025, she has served as a Council Member of the Open University of Colombo and chairs its Audit Committee. An Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (ACMA), Ariyawansa brings together extensive financial expertise, strategic leadership and a strong commitment to sound governance and institutional excellence.
