Top professional and longstanding Board member and shareholder of Senkadagala Finance PLC Lakshman Balasuriya has passed away on Sunday.

Balasuriya served on the Board of Senkadagala Finance PLC from 1981 to 2024 as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. Upon reaching the age of 70 years in 2024, he retired from the position of the Managing Director and continued to serve as the Chief Executive Officer until his demise.

“Balasuriya will be remembered with deep respect and gratitude for his invaluable contribution, visionary leadership, and unwavering commitment to the Board and to the Company over more than four decades of distinguished service,” a statement from Senkadagala Finance PLC said.

Beloved husband of Janine, loving father of Amanthi and Keshav, and much-loved grandfather of Cara, Arthur, Alex and Daniel. Brother of Asoka, Rohan, Lakshmi, Gayathri and the late Mahendra. Cremation at the General Cemetery, Kanatte (New Crematorium), on Wednesday, 17 December 2025 at 4.30 p.m. Remains lie at No. 14, Classen Place, Colombo, for viewing.
